Room Theme Mania

How do you decorate your classroom?  Do you use a theme?
I kinda go all out {not to the extreme that some people do} and do a theme.  I figure I'm going to spend 9 months in this classroom, I want it to be pleasing to my eye and welcoming to my students and visitors.

I can't remember if I posted that I thought I was going to be in a room in our school that had two brown walls, so I was trying to work with that.  I had picked a safari theme...learning safari to be exact.  Now that I am not moving, I've kind of been toying with changing my mind.  So, today my sweet son and I went on our own safari.  We were searching for ideas to either convince me to keep the safari theme or sway me to choose something else.

Our first stop?  Hobby Lobby!
Let me tell you, this is the Teacher Theme Capital of the World!

For the past two years I had a bee classroom.  Where were these cute things when I needed them?

My sweet friend, Martha, from Primary Paradise would go crazy with all of this cute tropical decor.

We found some trendy zebra and pink things.

And some bright and colorful spring things.

How about these cool, giant, primary colored office supplies?  Don't they just scream school?

Another sweet friend, Merinda, from Pirate Girl's Educational Invasion could have used these last year.

We found things to bling up your desk.  Check out those rhinestones!

And, of course, the ever-popular owl theme!

While I did decide to shelve the Learning Safari theme for the time being, I didn't find my theme in this store or any of the other stores that we went to...I found it in my idea bank in my head.  What is it?  Well...you'll have to wait and see!

However, in the meantime, it's time for the

Graphics from Just So Scrappy Too.  Fonts are KG Second Chances and Toolkits School Prints.

If you're looking for inspiration, just check out these amazing theme ideas in the linky below AND be sure to enter the Rafflecopter for a Room Theme of your choice from my store.  I will be giving away 3 of them!

  5. I have done a monkey and jungle theme...I am still debating if I am going to change it up this year or continue to use the monkey/jungle theme. There are so many cute ideas out there! However, my budget can't really afford to invest in new decor items. Thank you for the giveaway! :)

  6. I don't do a theme, but last summer I bought Jamie Rector's Bright Classroom decor and tried to coordinate my colors. It as hard to find matching colors for all of my classroom supplies, so I'm heading out to IKEA today to see what I can get for next year!

  14. We just finished up school this week. So, I haven't given much thought as to what next year's theme will be all about. This year, I went with a fish theme and incorporated the colours orange, green, and yellow.
However, I am looking forward to reading some other theme ideas/suggestions. I would love and need a change. Thanks!

  15. I haven't gone whole hog for a theme yet...just a few things here and there. I have tried to color-coordinate my room, so that it looks tied together. Might have to hit the stores, though, it looks like!

  23. I like my current color theme that I started last year...black, turquoise, and lime green. I once, long ago, had a racing theme! My behavior system were flags (caution, red flag, victory lane), class jobs were my pit crew, and I had posters up of famous drivers of the day. I think a beach theme would be fun!

  55. For a while, I had a vice principal who really wanted all the teachers to have a "cozy corner" for reading so I took it to the extreme and made the entire classroom cozy with lamps, couches, pillows, recliner chair, blankets. My principal did not like that. Then one year, I had warning that I would be having one of the hardest classes coming up with tough behaviors and personalities. I spent the summer getting the theme together of "smart cookies." I figured if i treated them like tough kids, they would act tough, but if I started out calling them smart.....the smart cookies......then they would act smart. I even brought in cookies in the first day of school and each month that they showed good behaviors and academics. It was pretty successful, I would say. I just did not decorate the entire classroom, with cookies, but we had signs up about smart cookies are good readers, smart cookies ask questions, smart cookies are respectful.....etc. I hope that counts as a theme. I'd love to win our giveaway.

  58. Last year was my first year with an all-out theme. It started off as "Leaning Safari," but quickly turned into what was affectionately dubbed "Zebra Madness!" Hobby Lobby is definitely a great place to look for pretty much anything you could ever want to come in zebra print! My students loved to borrow my rhinestone zebra scissors that I bought there. I spent a lot of time and money putting together all the different decorative touches, so I'm going to stick with the safari theme again this year.

P.S. - I'm a new blogger and this was my first attempt at linking up! Thanks for giving me the opportunity.
